Store History
The Sewing Center of Southern Utah store has been open for over 30 years, although the name has changed several times. We have supplied sewists and quilters with their sewing machines for many years. Around 1998, we relocated to south Bluff Street where we remained for over 15 years. In early 2013, as we expanded and added the Janome brand, we ran out of space and had to move. Our new location a few doors down has the largest selection of sewing, embroidery, serger, and quilting machines in southern Utah. With over 50 models to choose from, we have what you need in one location.
Our Staff
Ricci Lindley is probably the coolest person you will meet. She has extensive quilting experience and has been involved in the customer service industry her entire career.
Ken Harker is probably one of the most experienced sewing machine technicians in the country. He has 40 years experience and is factory certified in multiple brands. In most cases, he can get your sewing machine (any brand) serviced and repaired the same day you bring it in. No need to wait two weeks or more while your machine sits on a shelf waiting to get serviced.
Verny Thompson has been at the store for over six years and has almost 20 years experience. She is a trained Embroidery Software Specialist in multiple brands of sewing machines. Verny has taught sewing-related classes for 16 years.
Tammy Seegmiller has been at the store for over three years. She has taught (and currently teaches) sewing-related classes at Dixie State University for 13 years. At the college, she teaches Fashion Sewing, Intermediate Sewing, and Advanced Sewing. These classes include quilting, machine embroidering, serger techniques, and apparel sewing. At the university, Tammy is the entire sewing department. We refer to her as the Dean, Department Head, Department Secretary, Professor, and Sergin’ General. When she is not at the university, she helps in the store sharing her knowledge and skills with customers. She also has many years experience doing alterations for retail stores.
